He joins as Head of South and Southeast Asia and will be based at the Singapore Headquarters.

Singapore, 3 April 2023 – Transport Capital, an asset management, loan financing consultancy and asset brokerage firm focused on Maritime and Aviation, has announced the hiring of its new Head of South and Southeast Asia, Tom Zachariassen. Based in the Singapore headquarters, Tom will be responsible for the business development and growth of the company in the region.

He comes with broad industry knowledge within capital-intensive and cyclical industries, as well as an extensive track record in origination, structuring, syndication, and documentation of structured credit facilities, corporate finance, merger & acquisitions, and treasury risk management.

Tom will be reporting to Deputy Managing Partner, Joshua Politis. Commenting on the expansion of the team, Joshua said: “Tom is an excellent addition to our growing team and I look forward to working with him to further develop our various activities in Southern Asia. Tom’s extensive experience in the region will help us advance our ambitious expansion strategy.”

Tom was the Chief Financial Officer at HBC Hamburg Bulk Carriers during its recent merger process with Asia Maritime Pacific. Previously, Tom spent more than 18 years with Nordea Bank, primarily covering the Asian markets and lastly held the position as Client Executive and Head of Shipping & Offshore Asia. After leaving Nordea in 2021, he established Easterlies Consulting, an independent consultancy and advisory firm focusing on the maritime industry.

Speaking on his appointment, Tom expressed: “I have worked closely with Transport Capital in various situations since 2015 and have been extremely impressed by its deep understanding of the industry, and the ability to develop new solutions and services. I am very pleased to join this experienced team of finance professionals, at a time of increasing needs for innovative asset financing solutions towards the decarbonisation transition of the maritime and aviation industries”.

Tom is a graduate of the Norwegian School of Economics (NHH) in Bergen, Norway.
